Maggie is a Brabant Beligian Draft. Brabants are the original European Belgian draft horse, the stock from which the American Belgian horse originates. Brabants are fairly rare in the US. We purchased Maggie to be Mike's riding horse. She was born in 2003 and had just turned 5 when we got her in 2009. She came to us pretty much untrained. She is now trail riding and also driving.

Maggie is our logger and helps us pull our firewood out of our woodlot across the stream. She is a pulling machine! Despite Maggie's large size, she is the sweetest and most gentle horse. She'll come right over to greet you and ask for scratches. She's very curious and loves to check out new things. Her best friend is Laureen and they are an inseparable pair.
