Riding lessons are offered here at Stoney Brook Farm. Riding lessons are based on correct communication with the horse, centered riding, confidence building and FUN! Lessons are 1 hour and cost $40. Kids 4 and up and of course adults can benefit from learning how to ride and enjoy the connection with a horse!
Intro To Horses Spring/Summer Workshops
Stoneybrook Farm will be running a spring session of Intro To Horses for kids. Each session will include a mounted lesson and an unmounted workshop. The unmounted workshop will cover topics such as grooming, horse nutrition, behavior, caring for horses and horse breeds. Our friendly and lovable Shetland pony will assist in teaching the parts of a horse, grooming and tacking up, staying safe around horses and how to properly lead a horse. The unmounted workshop is hands on allowing participants to learn by doing.
During the mounted portion, participants will learn mounting and dismounting, correct and balanced position, and communication and control of the horse at the walk. Riding and handling of horses is all based on natural horsemanship.
This workshop will run for 4 weeks and sessions are once per week. Sessions are 2 hours long, one hour for mounted, one hour for unmounted. This workshop will begin the first week of June. The cost is $150 per child.
Sessions will run Tues – Thurs from 2:00pm – 4pm starting on June 1st. Please have a first and second choice of days. Forms and a deposit must be mailed in by May 21st.
